With an overarching focus on the public realm, the Lyndhurst Foundation continues its legacy of working with partners who are committed to the revitalization and regeneration of Chattanooga’s downtown core, the surrounding neighborhoods, and small downtowns throughout the region.

The Lyndhurst Foundation envisions a built environment that puts within reach of all people those things needed to experience a happy, healthy, and productive life. We support the creation of sustainable, equitable, and accessible cities comprised of healthy connected neighborhoods grounded in place, community, and nature. Funding initiatives include the planning and development of pedestrian-oriented public spaces, mixed-use downtown cores, complete streets and neighborhoods, parks and green infrastructure, smart growth and zoning, fair and affordable housing, sustainable building practices, renewable energy and efficiency, transit and multi-modal transportation, and historic preservation.

Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise (CNE)

Lyndhurst partners with Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise (CNE) to support the design and development of mixed-income, affordable, Missing Middle Housing in the historical ring neighborhoods surrounding downtown Chattanooga. CNE recognizes the critical relationship between the vibrancy of our neighborhoods and the prosperity of our citizens. CNE employs a variety of programs to drive homeownership, promote financial well-being, build community connections, provide stable housing, and reinforce the fabric and livability of our neighborhoods. The Missing Middle program encourages the development of well-designed, infill housing prototypes that are sensitive to neighborhood scale while allowing greater concentration of affordable housing in accessible locations.
